RESIST THE DEVIL AND STOP COMPLAINING
Many believers are fond of complaining to God about what they are passing through instead of resisting the devil, who is the one behind the scene. God has good plans and blessings for us, but the devil always wants to steal, kill, and destroy them. John 10:10. He will come with different tactics to tempt and fight believers, but we ought to resist him as often as he comes. Complaints will not help us because God has already given us the power and commanded us to resist the devil. Believers who keep complaining during the time of adversity will eventually lose faith in God and fall for Satan.
The devil does not rest until he sees the complete downfall of a believer. The problem of many believers is that they think that, as children of God, the devil cannot come to them and challenge them. Because of this, they relax and leave everything to God. Yes, we should cast all our care on God, but at the same time, resist the devil, as this is our responsibility. This is what Peter let us know in 1 Peter 5:7,9. Believers are the main target of the devil. He is their archenemy. 1 Peter 5:8. He is a roaring lion he does not fear. He came to Jesus in the wilderness and took Jesus into a high mountain and tempted him (Luke 4). He also tempted Peter to shift him from the faith and many others. Luke 22:31. So, if this had happened to them, why wouldn’t their followers?
The Bible says that after Jesus had overcome him, he left him for a while. Luke 4:13. Revealing to us the fact that we overcome today does not mean the devil will not come tomorrow. He will surely come with different devices, and when he comes, we should not begin to ask God why—God why? It has come again. Why? No! We ought to keep resisting the devil until our last breath on earth; otherwise, we will stand to lose our faith in God. When the children of Israel encamped by the red sea beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon, as they saw the Egyptians coming towards them with great armies, their hearts got melted. They began to complain about their safety. Moses too cried to the Lord for help. But none of these brings help until God reminds him of the rod that was in his hands to lift it forth and stretch his hand over the sea and divide it. That was how the great miracle happened. Moses will have done this since, but he keeps crying to God while the Israelites were complaining about Exodus 14:1-31.
This tells us that God does not listen to our emotions but His word. Today, we have the same rod, even more powerful than that of Moses. It is the Christ in us who is the Lion of the tribe of Judah. He is by far greater than our enemies. For this reason, nothing should make us fear like the Israelites but to resist the devil whenever he comes with the whole armour of God. In conclusion We were called into battle, and we always have to be vigilant while putting on the whole armour of God. It's high time we stopped complaining and faced the reality at hand.
As said, God has already given us the power, and it is in us; only for us to put it into action by speaking the word and standing firm in faith. Victory is ours because the devil is a defeated foe. He just comes around to intimidate us. We can no longer keep quiet while the devil is rigging havoc in our lives. Look, we cannot enjoy our Christian life until we continue to say, Get behind me, Satan! Say no to him at the right time, and he will flee away. Do not use the haft of the armor. Use the whole armour as he comes in different forms to steal, kill, and destroy your destiny.
Never live in that ignorance again that the devil will not come to threaten you because you are a Christian and so untouchable. Thank God, Paul has made us to know as brethren thus: “For we wrestle not against fresh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." Eph. 6:12. The ’we’ in that text refers to believers. So, resist the devil and stop complaining to God! It might be a waste of time.
