THE LORD OVERRULES

Have you ever wondered that despite the series of natural and man-made catastrophes in the world today, ranging from the pandemic, nuclear war threats, climate change, asteroid near-earth movement, earth irregular movement, etc., the earth still remains indestructible? Wonder no more! It is the Lord that overrules the universe and the plans of men! This is why his name is the Lord. He is the omnipotent and omniscient God who has the supreme power and authority over everything on the earth. The devil is the great enemy of God whose major purpose is to destroy the works of God.

Surprisingly, you may not know that he has been trying to destroy this earth before God’s appointed time through some set of elites called the globalists. However, the Lord restrains them and upholds the whole earth to function according to his will. They have made several attempts to destroy this earth through scientific methods and dubious means, but to no avail because every jot of God’s word concerning the end of things must surely come to pass. These people are the ones who run this world for satanic and selfish purposes, preparing the way for the Anti-Christ. The devil is a thief. The truth is that “the earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.” Psalm 24:1.

Historically, men always go out in their own selfish interest to contest with God but fail woefully in the end. One of them was Nebuchadnezzar. He felt he was the overall, but God let him learn a lesson of his life after telling him thus: “This matter is by the decree of the watchers and the demand by the word of the holy ones, to the intent that the living may know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men.” Daniel 4:17. This also makes us know today that he is the one who overrules and that when he speaks, his word carries the final verdict in every situation of life.

The devil is a liar with all his cohorts! Now, one of the major reasons that prompted us to write this piece at this time is to thank the Almighty God and give him all the glory that, despite the challenges we are facing in this ministry, coupled with what the world is passing through now and the church of God in particular, we are still able to reach out to many who eagerly received God’s words while the word is still unfolding its truth, making us fully prepared for the coming of our Lord. To him alone be glorified! We shall not die but live to tell the world about the goodness of God.

Man proposes, but God disposes (Proverbs 19:21). The Bible says thus: “Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. For he spoke, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast. The Lord bringeth the counsel of the heathen to naught; he maketh the devices of the people to none effect. The counsel of the Lord standeth forever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.” Psalms 33:8-11: “

The enemy of God is also our enemy. The heathen in the above text refers to our enemies. As Christians, we have so many enemies who always propose evil against us so that the plan of God will not prosper in our lives. They do this out of jealousy. They do not like our godly living and progress in life, so they want to do everything within their power to stop us. However, we are unstoppable because God will always thwart their plans and render their enterprise useless.

Remember the story of Mordecai and Haman in Esther 6 and 7. Mordecai was unstoppable, and that is who we are in Christ. No one can stop us. Of course, Haman’s wife, Zeresh, and his wise men have already told him that, if Mordecai is of the seed of the Jews, he will never prevail over his plans against him. Esther 6:13. Glory to God!

This enemy may be an evil person in your family who says, “Let me see how you will make it,” like Joseph’s brothers. Gen. 37:20. It may be a demon who whispers death to you in your dream, vision, or thoughts; it may be your former cult members threatening you; it may be your teacher or boss in the office who wants to use you for a reward; or it may be your schoolmate, business partner, or rivals who are determined to stop your progress. Like Daniel, Daniel 6. It may even be a prophet or your medical doctor that told you that you will not make it due to your health condition. Whoever or whatever they may be, know that the Highest God has the final say in your life! He is the one in charge and no other.

It says, “For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.” Hallelujah! Again, the Bible also says this: “Take counsel together, and it shall come to naught; speak the word, and it shall not stand, for God is with us.” Isaiah 8:10. They can propose, but God is able to dispose of all their plans. He is with us always; therefore, it is needless for us to be afraid of what they say or do to hinder our progress. All we need to do is to hold firm onto the word of God during this time of challenge. We should never allow their intimidations to cause us to compromise until they know truly that the God of heaven is with us. God overrules, and he is in charge of your life.

Because of this, whatever they have determined to do outside of God’s will cannot stand. Another example is Paul’s enemies, who bound themselves under a great curse that they will neither eat nor drink until they have killed Paul, but God thwarted their plan. Acts 23:21.

So, why worry? For greater is he that is in us than he that is in the world. You will surely live to fulfill your destiny. He did it to others, and he will do it again for us because he is still the same today. No one can kill you before your time. God has already said yes to you in his word, and no man can say no! They may press you this way or the other way, but God will lift you up to their shame. Hallelujah! The Lord overrules.

In conclusion, in this end time, we should not allow evil activities and deliberate attempts by the enemies of God to destroy the world before time to make us lose focus on God’s word because all that he has said will surely come to pass. Seeing his imminent coming, we are to fully prepare so that we will not be found wanting in that day. CHURCH A SCAM?

It is a fulfilling reality that in these last days, there are so many mockers of God’s word, especially as the day of the Lord is drawing nearer.

The Bible says, Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts. 2 Peter 3:3. This is a fulfilling reality today. There are truly many mockers of God’s word, especially as the Lord tarries in his return. Through their dark minds, they continue to say so many things against the church of God & Christ’s return. One of their words that seems trendy on social media is that the church is a scam.

Is Church a scam? First of all, what is the meaning of scam? According to the Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary, a scam is “a dishonest scheme or plan, especially one that involves tricking people out of money.” Having known the meaning of a scam now, let’s see what a church is. A church is a body of believers who worship God together in spirit & truth. In other words, it is the “Ecclesia,” a church that consists of believers who are redeemed by the blood of Jesus and whose names are written in heaven, that “glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.” Eph 5:23-24, 27. Christ, who is the embodiment of truth, is the head of the Church, while believers who are washed by his blood are the body of Christ. A true church makes the Holy Bible its final authority.

From the above explanations, therefore, it should be clearly understood that the true Church of God is not about the physical building, nor is it a place where nominal Christians are occupied for their selfish interests. Now, how should it be said that a church that Christ has redeemed is a scam? This is nothing but to let us know that they are just mockers of the truth, following their own lusts. Authentically, a church has its historical evidence to prove its origin & experiences from the beginning.

Moreover, it is a life-transforming institution established by Christ through his blood. As said above, he is the head of the Church, the epitome of truth, and the giver of eternal life, while believers are his body. The church doctrines are based on the true words of God, which are written in the Holy Bible. Undoubtedly, from the inception of the church, testimonies abound of those whose lives have been transformed by it and their stories changed. Therefore, church is not a scam. It’s just that mockers are always mockers, no matter what. They do this to defend their evil ways. Many of these mockers are unbelievers who always argue against God’s word and keep judging others, while the rest are fake believers who go to church often to get what will satisfy their selfish desires.

The latter do not want to go to a Bible-believing church that will tell them the true word of God, but where they will hear what they want to hear and get themselves satisfied. Such people backslide soon and turn against the church, especially when their selfish ends are not met (Proverbs 14:14). They lack the spirit because they walk by their own lusts, always trying to gratify the flesh. No wonder the Bible says that the time is coming when many will not endure sound doctrine, but after their own lusts shall heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears, and shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned into tables. 2 Tim 4:3-4. From this text, we know that they are not going to the church to hear the true word of God but lies from the so-called men & women of God whom they have set for themselves to hear from, just to be okay with life.

 

Again, according to Peter, there shall come many false prophets who, through covetousness, shall, with feigned words, make merchandise of you (2 Peter 2:2-3). This is the kind of pastors, teachers, and prophets they want to hear from and fellowship with. They are the ones who turn their churches into money-making ventures. They do not preach the truth that will lead the hearer into a genuine repentance and right fellowship with God because their main focus is on gathering great followers and making money for themselves. Characteristically, they use motivating words, fake prophecies, and miracles to collect their members’ hard-earned money into their pockets. They are really making money in these troublesome times while many of their members are suffering in poverty.

 

Consequently, when those things of which their pastors promised them are not coming forth {i.e., success, quick riches, upliftment, etc.}, they will say church is a scam. Is church really a scam? No, it is your pastor that is a scam, not the church. You are being scammed because you are not willing to hear the truth. God cannot be mocked, for whatsoever a man soweth, that he also reaps. Gal 5:7. You sow to the flesh and reap in corruption. Repent now before it is too late. But if you are still saying the church is a scam and refuse to repent, especially in this end time, then you are free to go the other way, the popular way where many run to, Keep living in unrighteousness and do all that your heart pushes you to do (Rev. 22:11-12). The difference is clear, and it is a matter of choice. But remember this word of God: “For there is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” Proverbs 14:12.

The gospel and its global outreach

One of the most indisputable signs of the end times is the global outreach of the gospel and its impacts. Today, hardly any nation in the world where the gospel has not reached as a result of unrelenting effort of the missionaries and the advent of advanced communication technology. Amazingly, the more the persecution, the more the gospel continues to spray and gather momentum. No wonder the Lord says “And upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it’’ Matthew 16:18.

This was not a mere say but a fulfilling prophecy following what the church has been passing through since the 1st century. There have been severe persecutions in many places in the world, yet the gospel is still moving on. Prophetically, Jesus told his disciple about the signs that will precede his coming. These signs according to him will be the beginning of sorrows but the end is not yet until this gospel of the kingdom is preached in all the nations of the world as a witness Matt. 24:14,6,8.

Moreover, after his resurrection, he told them that they shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon them and that they shall be witnesses to me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth Acts 1:8. This means that the gospel will be preached beginning from Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and to the uttermost part of the world. Today, the gospel that began like a mustard seed in Jerusalem has so far been preached all over the world despite great hurdles and persecutions; making the Lord’s word come to pass.
In this end times particularly, there is no doubt that there is any nation on the earth who has not heard about Christ and his works, especially through the help of technology. Modern technologies like the internet, phone etc. have made it so simple for Christians to reach out to the unreached within a very short time, no matter the distances and barriers. Because of this, no nation can boldly say it has not heard of the gospel of Christ, either directly or indirectly.

From the onset, God has been using believers to reach out to every nation on the earth; and whether they receive it or not does not really matter but that they hear God’s word. This is because that is what will stand as a witness to them on the judgement day. This is why Jesus says ‘’and this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations” Verse 14a. Now, we are not praying for their condemnation but only if they chose to reject the gospel.

Christ also says ‘’and then shall the end come” 14b. As we have all witnessed the global outreach of the gospel, the amazing proliferation of churches and great manifestation of the Holy spirit today, it is very certain that Christ’s coming is imminent Joel 2. As Christ has revealed it, this should be a clarion call for our readiness to see the Lord at any moment from now. We are not only expected to be prepared but to prepare others too through soul-winning to enable them to be partakers of his glorious coming. Even if we know that the gospel has been preached in all the nations of the world, we still need to go out there or use any available means to win more souls and let others hear about Christ. This is our responsibility until Christ comes.

There are many souls that are perishing in this end times because the devil is seriously in the business of stealing men’s souls knowing that his time is short! As Christians, we ought to snatch them from his hands through the gospel no matter what. We should be compelled by the love of Christ to reach out to them immediately because of what is awaiting them. We are being saved to save others. So, we cannot afford to sit down and watch them while perishing because God will require their blood at their hands. And if we do it faithfully, God will reward us abundantly.

The power of righteousness and holiness in spiritual battles

Every piece of God’s armor was specifically designed to fit a particular area in our spiritual warfare. This is why we are told to put on the whole armor so that we can be complete and stand strong on every side of the battle. Ephesians 6:13. Concerning righteousness, it is a defense to us against the arrows of the evil one. The Bible says, “And having on the breastplate of righteousness” {Ephesians 6:14c}. The breastplate there represents protection and defense. These scriptures below reveal how this is true, and remember that uprightness in those verses is another word for righteousness. It is talking about Job, the servant of the Highest God. God fortified him because of his righteousness.

“a perfect and an upright man, and one that feareth God and eschewed evil?” Job 1:8.

“Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side?” Job 1:10

According to these scriptures, real Christians have divine protection and defense against the forces of darkness. The devil and his cohorts do not relent in their efforts to take many to Hell, especially in these end times. Undoubtedly, we are fighting every day against the unseen forces. A great battle is going on even right now in the spiritual realm. This is why the Bible says,’ ’For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” {Ephesians 6:12}.

To have a total victory, we must also put on the breastplate of righteousness and holiness. Though holiness is not mentioned in that verse, they are interrelated and so cannot be discussed in isolation {Luke 1:75, Eph. 4:24 & Romans 6:19}. Righteousness is having a right standing with God through Christ’s atoning death. We inherited our righteousness by faith, not by our own works. Holiness means setting ourselves aside for God’s use. It also means avoidance of filthiness of the spirit and body. 2 Corinthians 7:1. Holiness should be our daily practice because of its importance in our spiritual battles and heavenly journey.

As we have received righteousness by grace, we also ought to walk in the newness of life. Romans 6:1–4 This is where holiness comes in. We cannot say we are Christians and continue to commit sins because of the abundance of God’s grace. No, that would not exemplify us as true Christians. If we say we are true children of God, then we ought to live a holy life because God is holy. Holiness is the nature of God, and he has commanded us to be holy. Anything contrary to this is not his. 1 Peter 1:16.

For this reason, if we want His presence to continue to abide with us and to access his unlimited power in order to gain daily victories over our enemies, we must live a holy life because he has promised to be in us and with us. This is assurance of our daily victory. But how can this happen when we live a sinful life? If we do not have a pure heart and cleansed hands, how can we be defended or saved? Can a lawyer defend his guilty client? It may happen anyway by hook or crook, but God is ever righteous and just in all his judgment.

Holiness is power. It is what gives us the boldness as true children of God to withstand the devil, knowing very well that God is with us. He protects his own with the wall of fire, and whoever touches them touches the apple of his eye (Zechariah 2:5–8). When we doubt our salvation and authority in Christ because of sin, how can we command the devil? We have to be sure of our salvation and sonship in Christ through the witnesses of the Holy Spirit in our hearts. In other words, our consciences must be cleared before God and man. A professed Christian who sins cannot resist the devil with boldness because of his uncleared conscience.

What happened to the seven sons of Sceva was a question of sonship and authority. They did not truly believe in the Lord Jesus, yet they wanted to utilize his name against the devil as they saw Paul doing. But the demons did not know them, so they questioned their authority and beat them up. You see! Our faith and holy living should be able to convince the devil that we are true children of the Most High so that when we take authority against them, they will obey because of the fire of the Holy Spirit upon us.

The devil knows that true children of God are powerful through the fire of God upon them. They are unconquerable in battles. When they speak, they speak out fire, and every word they declare is established in the heavenly realm because God is not far from them. So, what he normally does is to cause them to commit sins in order to keep God away from them. When this happens, the fire will be reduced or quenched, and such Christians become powerless.

We are extremely blessed and protected when we are obediently in Christ, but when we live a sinful life, we become like a house with a broken fence to the forces of darkness. The Israelites were God’s people. On their way to the promised land, they were unconquerable because God’s presence was with them. But whenever there was sin among them, they were defeated by their enemies. When Balaam discovered this after he was called to curse Israel and it failed, he told Balak, who hired him, to introduce fornication and idol worship in the camp of the Israelites at Shittim (Numbers 22–25). This is how he got the people into sin, and God’s anger was great against them, resulting in their defeats and death. Jesus spoke against the doctrine of Balaam and the Jezebel woman who called herself a prophetess in Revelation 2:20.

Today, this is still one of the major tactics of the devil against the children of God. There are so many people whom the devil has been using to spread immoral doctrines and ungodly lifestyles. They use all the available means of communication and appear in public places just to spread their evil doctrines. Surprisingly, their evil doctrine is mostly accepted as good in many parts of the world. Moral values could no longer be recognized as good in our society but as archaic and impractical. It has gotten to the extent that immoral shows and practices are everywhere, especially on social media. It is like we are in the free world where everybody does what he or she likes.

Unfortunately, many believers have embraced this doctrine of Balaam that makes them live an immoral life. They are following the world system and have forgotten that they are the main target of the devil. As said, the devil is still using this doctrine of Balaam through his human agents to bring down many Christians from their heavenly places.

In conclusion, we have to be vigilant and continue to wear our garments of holiness and righteousness until Christ comes. Holiness is power, and as the Bible says, who is he that will harm you if you are followers of that which is good? Do you not know that the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous and his ears open unto their prayers? Remember that the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much (James 5:16, 1 Peter2: 13). Therefore, you are more than a conqueror. Go in this your might, and your daily victory over your enemy is sure!

The Misunderstanding Of Money In Biblical Perspective

The level of your understanding defines how you live and your height in life. This means that what you misunderstand can confine you to swimming perpetually in the ocean of misconduct and poverty. In other words, every stand we take or choice we make in life depends mostly on our mindset or mentality about such a situation, which will eventually have either  a positive or  negative impact on our lives.

Having said that, understanding is very important, especially what the Bible says as Christians. Now, in the area concerning money, it should not be left untouched because of its importance in our everyday struggles. The Bible says, ’For the LOVE of money is the root of all evil” {1 Timothy 6:10 KJV}. Many have little or no understanding about this verse, especially in these end times. As a result of this, they keep limiting the grace of God in their lives. According to this verse, the Bible did not say, ’Money is evil, nor did it say, Money is the root of all evil.

However, many people misunderstood and misinterpreted this verse wrongly to the detriment of their lives and the lives of others because they have not always looked into the Bible to get what the Bible says. Consequently, they live with this misconception or mentality throughout their lifetime.

When anyone believes that money is the root of all evil without studying the Bible to understand what the Bible says and what it really means, such a person will be carrying about a mentality that to pursue money is a sin. Because of this, his or her attitude toward money changed, leading to poverty. This is the terrain in which many have found themselves, even committed Christians.

Money is good; it is not evil because the Bible also says money answers all things and it is a defence to those who have it {Eccl. 7:12, 10:19 }. This means that the lack of it makes the prayer points of some people lengthy and repetitive. This may sound strange, but it is the truth that cannot be hidden. We ought to understand what the Bible says and key into it. In the above verse, many have omitted the important part of what the Bible says: ’the LOVE of money. And even in this, it is still complex because everybody loves money. However, what the Bible really means in this verse is about covetousness, as it says later, ’which while some coveted after.” This word has given us more understanding that it is not just about a mere love for money but coveting it. As I said, everybody loves money, but coveting it is what the Bible warns us against. The Bible is very clear about this, and it has provided us with examples.

And these are those who coveted money in the Bible and missed their salvation:

Achan Joshua 7:21

Judas Iscariot, Matt. 26:15; 27:5–6

Demas, 2 Timothy 4:10, etc.

Covetousness is a strong desire for something, especially something that belongs to someone else. The opposite of covetousness is contentment, which we have seen in the previous verses (1 Timothy 6:6–8). It is synonymous with greediness and envy. James 3:16; Proverbs 15:27. This is just to get more light on what the Bible is talking about in the verse under discussion {1 Timothy 6:10}. According to the definition of covetousness above, the most active word there is this adjective, ‘’strong desire.’’ Many people are moved by this strong desire to get it by all means, especially when they see others making it, and in an attempt to satisfy their longings, they fall into all kinds of evil activities. This is where the problem is, not money itself, and this is where contentment comes in. Contentment is the key solution. But this does not mean we should be satisfied with our present situations. No, it is limiting the grace of God in our lives. All we need to do is to move forward but with the spirit of contentment and complete focus on the things of the kingdom.

Apostle Paul wrote to Brother Timothy, revealing the predicament in which some brethren have found themselves as a result of covetousness, and warned him against inordinate love for money and its consequences. He said this because there were some brethren like Demas who have been pursuing money at the expense of their salvation; some have the money but not enough for them, while some do not have it but desire to have it by all means.

In the later verses, Paul told Timothy to flee these things and follow after righteousness, godliness, etc. 1 Timothy 6:11&12. When he said this, he did not mean Timothy should run away from money because he talked about it. No! By the way, how will he or the ministry be sustained without money? He was talking about covetousness, not money itself, as we have said. We ought to pursue money by looking for something good and doing it. Then, we can get the money. God even said it in his words in 2 Thess. 3:10. As said, money forms the basic part of our sustenance, and I do not think we can do without it in our practical life.

Now, this does not underscore the fact that our faith in Christ is the major thing in life, but we need to balance it with our pursuit of money. Remember that if we pursue money early enough with our salvation intact, a time will come when money will be pursuing after us as a result of our numerous investments. This is wisdom, and it is profitable to use.

Sadly enough, many professed Christians today misunderstand this verse {10} and carry poverty mentally about, thinking it is godliness to suffer in poverty. They do not want to talk about money openly as if money itself is evil, yet they are dying in poverty. If we do not dream money, talk money, how can we know where it is and do something to get it? Some of them even missed God’s given opportunities that would have made them rich because of their mentality about money. Afterward, as they became old, they kept regretting it and resorted to borrowing because of financial burdens. Will that give God the glory? We need to make our hay while the sun is shining and keep balancing it with our faith.

The story of the rich man and Lazarus and the parable of Christ about the rich man does not really mean that the rich will not enter the kingdom of God (Luke 16:19–31; Matt. 19:24). This is not so. It is just a warning for us to be careful about money because of its tendency to trap us. If so, why was Father Abraham found in Heaven, when the Bible testifies that he was a rich man on the earth (Genesis 13:2). If every Christian has this mindset, how will the works of God be supported? Remember Joseph of Arimathea and Lazarus and learn a lesson that will help you to be useful in God’s house and to the brethren (Matt. 28:57–61). They were rich men who performed the burial of Jesus with their expensive tomb and clothes and supported his ministry when he was alive as secret followers.

Conclusion

This is the mind of God for us:

“Let the Lord be magnified, who has pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.” Psalms 35:27.

“For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich” [2 Corinthians 8:9].

“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” {3 John 2}.

From these passages, we know that God wants us to prosper as the kingdom works are prospering in our hands. He has already empowered us through the grace of our Lord Jesus to make wealth, but because of the misunderstanding of his word, many chose to suffer in poverty for the sake of heaven. This mentality ought to be changed to help us live better during this time of economic downturn. We need to understand that money itself is not evil, and to pursue it too is not a sin, as we have seen in our discussions. But how we pursue money is what calls for a serious question. Let us always have eternity in view while pursuing money because it is God’s will for us to make good wealth so that his name will be glorified(Deut. 8:18). See you on top!

Esau And The Red Pottage

One of the greatest mistakes one could ever make in life is trading with his or her birthright like Esau. Though birthright is not transferable, Esau sold his birthright to his brother with an oath. Eventually, this came to pass in his life adversely. He made a very grave mistake, though ignorantly. Birthright can only be earned from birth. Because of this, it is a biological right or privilege that comes with being born as a son or daughter into a family. Culturally, this right is what can ascertain someone’s biological background and enables him or her to possess the portion of his or her inheritance in the family.

The portion he is entitled to depends on the position he or she holds among the siblings. It is known even from the Bible times that the first son is entitled to the biggest portion of the family properties after the death of their father. He also takes over the fatherly responsibilities and privileges. It was because of the privileges of being born as the first son that Jacob struggled from the womb in order to overtake his brother. Esau sold his birthright. Fortunately for Jacob, it happened one day that his brother came back from hunting and was very hungry. When he saw the red pottage that Jacob had prepared, he asked for it. However, his brother, who has been waiting for this opportunity, told him to sell his birthright to him before he could give him the meal. Esau said, ”I am at the point to die, and what profit shall this birthright do to me?”. Jacob told him to swear, and he did. Then the meal was given to him. This is how Esau despitefully sold his birthright (Genesis 25:29–34). He was very shortsighted to see any important thing in his birthright because of the hunger and the sweet aroma of the red pottage, which was just momentary compared to what he would lose. It was really very foolish of him.

The Consequences

The Bible says subsequently, he cried for it bitterly when it dawned on him but could not redeem it. Hebrews 12:17. He finally realized that he had lost what would have earned him the divine blessings and inheritance in the lineage of his forefathers; not only this, but that God’s abiding presence in his life and his heavenly dwelling is gone. Because of this, his name is not found among the people of God. Instead, he is called Edom, which means the red pottage. God says in the Bible, I am the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He does not say I am the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Esau. He got missing in the record of God’s people just because of one minute of enjoyment and satisfaction. This singular act of his plunged his entire descendants into paganism and perpetual conflict with Israel. According to history, Edom became a pagan nation and great enemy of Israel till today. We can say that Esau died a rich man, but he had missed what money cannot buy, which is his birthright!

Our birthright

In this dispensation, our salvation in Christ is our birthright. Once we became born again, automatically, we received our birthright as sons and daughters of God. John 1:12. We also have access to our heavenly inheritance. These inheritances are kept for us by the power of God if we hold on to faith till the end, meaning that once we draw back, everything will be taken away from us. 1 Peter 1:3–6; Romans 8:7 & Hebrews 10:35. However, many still do not believe that we can miss our salvation that we once received. They’d rather believe in eternal security — that once we are saved, we are saved forever. This is not really true because Jesus says, “But to them that endure till the end, the same shall be saved” (Matthew 24:4). Again, Jude also says, “Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful to write unto you and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.” Jude 1:3

In today’s world, there are so many attractive opportunities and human inventions, like the red portage, targeting at pulling down our faith in God. And because of the fact that many Christians are living carelessly, they are easily caught by their luring power. Such Christians, like Esau, have not considered the importance of their birthright and heavenly inheritance because of the condition they have found themselves in. They just decided to trade their birthright with the flimsy things of this world without a second thought in order to get rid of their daunting situation. But at the end, they keep regretting it, going for fasting here and there to get a solution. This is very pathetic.

What seems like the red pottage today

The red portage is not just food or drink we are being offered. It can take different forms as follows.

Immoral Women

There are many Jezebel-like women today whose dressing and body make-up are uncalled for. Their interior purpose is to lure committed Christians away from God. Many men of God have suffered their hard blows and missed their divine unction. An example is David and Sampson. (2 Samuel 11:2; Judges 16; Rev. 2:20).

Money

This is one of the best examples of the red pottage today. It is very tempting and alluring in its nature, especially when it comes in huge amounts. Money is good, but the love of it is not recommended because it can easily replace God in someone’s life. Ballam and Judas Iscariot are examples. They forfeited their heavenly places because of their inordinate quest for money. Number 22 & Matthew 26:14–16

Finer things of life

These are eye-catching things that are reigning in the world, like new model luxurious cars, modern-day houses, outlandish clothes, jets, digital electronics, etc. These can easily catch the attention of people and subject them to perpetual craving. There are people who desire to have them by all means after seeing one from their friends or somewhere and eventually end up in the hands of the devil. Achan and Demas are examples. 2 Timothy 4:10. Joshua 7:21 & I John 2:15.

Cultism/demonic power

These are different kinds of satanic organizations or fraternities that exist in the world in the name of helping their members. They usually promise to give their members fame, power, money, and protection. It is like the red pottage to those who want to be rich without effort or who seek an immediate solution to their problems. The devil always wants to offer riches in exchange for men’s souls. Matthew 4:8–10.

Position

Position of authority, especially in politics, can be like the red pottage to many. In today’s politics, everybody knows that there is a massive gain in it. Because of this, high positions often attract many who want to do everything they can to be there. This can lead them out of the way of God. John 2:15–17.

Partying and entertainment

This is where one can gratify the flesh to its fullest as long as eating, drinking, sex, music, drugs, watching, gambling, etc. are concerned. Those that are addicted to this kind of life have done so at the expense of their spiritual life. They are only sown to the flesh, and they will also reap according to the flesh, for anyone that lives in pleasure is dead while living. 1 Timothy 5:6.

Social Media and Pornography

Social media handling and pornography are prevailing today, especially among the youths. Many have lost their souls because of the friends they have found on the internet and the platforms they belong to. There are many too who have become addicted to pornographic scenes. Indeed, evil company corrupts good manners. 1 Corinthians 15:33.

False teaching and false prophets

There are those who are not called by God. Because of this, they use every means, including flattering words and satanic powers, to draw a following. There are many of them today since we are in the end time. Satan sometimes disguises himself as the minister of light in order to grab men’s souls. Matthew 4:4 & Revelation 2:20 What should be our attitude as Christians? “Looking diligently lest any man fall from the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled; lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for the morsel of meat sold his birthright.” Hebrews 12:15–16.

From the text above, it is clear that Esau lost his birthright because of carelessness. In other words, he was not vigilant to the thing that mattered most in his life. He trivialized it with it ignorantly. In this regard, the Bible instructs us to be sober and vigilant because the devil always looks out for every little opportunity to steal, kill, and destroy. Our salvation is the most precious thing we could ever have on earth. For this reason, whichever way Satan comes to take it away from us, we ought to say no to him.1 Peter 5:8; John 10:10. Moreover, we ought to put our desires under control and be content with what we have, looking forward to eternal inheritance in heaven, which is far greater than what the world could offer us.

Conclusion

This story of Esau and the red pottage really serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of prioritizing our spiritual inheritance. As true Christians, we must be mindful of our daily temptations that seek to distract us from our faith and compromise our values. By keeping our eyes fixed on eternity and our hearts committed to God, we can avoid the pitfalls of the red pottage and inherit the eternal blessings that come with being children of God.

Renewing Hope In God’s Promises

In case you do not know, God is the hope of the hopeless! His promises are a sure bet to keep us moving during trying times. They are filled with all-around blessings, and they are yes and amen to anyone that believes. The Bible says, “Wherein God, willing more abundantly to show unto the heirs of the promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: that by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which entereth into that within the veil.” Hebrews 6:17–19.

According to this passage, God cannot lie. It is absolutely impossible for him to make a promise without bringing it to pass in its due time. This makes all his promises dependable and sure. He made a covenant with Abraham and promised to bless him and increase him abundantly, so that through his seed all the nations of the earth would be blessed:” Genesis 22:15–18. After he had made this promise, time and tide were never a barrier in bringing it to pass according to his word. There are many who hoped in him and were not disappointed. He is indeed a faithful God!

In this end time, where the devil is running madly in every direction, true believers all over the world are being touched by his fiery darts that seem to shatter their hope of continuing in their heavenly journey. Many of them are already being overwhelmed by the increasing wickedness and untold hardship of the day. This is truly the end-time prophetic manifestation. The Bible says because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. Matthew 24:12. It is happening today before our eyes in the body of Christ. There is coldness in the spiritual life of many because they feel they cannot continue in their journey of faith while being plagued with a series of troubles.

As a result, the initial love and commitment for God is gone, leading to truancy and a scarcity of members in the house of God. This is exactly what the Devil is fighting for: just to weaken the hearts of many believers through trials and turn them away from the faith as Christ’s coming is drawing near.

This is one of the major problems the church is facing presently. However, there is unfailing hope for every believer. Only be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Ephesians 6:10. If I may ask you now, what is that thing that you are faced with or has happened to you that seems to have shattered your faith? Hope in God! God has provisions for you in His word. All His promises in Christ are yea and are amen for you (2 Corinthians 1:20). Giving up your faith is not really the way out! God knows about all your struggles and sorrows and has already given us hope. Never cry or give up anymore. He is with you. He cannot fail or forsake you. He has done it to many, and yours cannot be an exception. Just hold onto Him by His word, and you will see how good and faithful the Lord is. He sent His begotten Son to die because of you, as it is written thus:

“The spirit of God is upon me, He has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed” Luke 4:18.

Though your heart has been broken and your hope shattered, yet Jesus has come to heal you and give you great hope which the world cannot offer to you. Whatever way you have been touched; Jesus is able to revive you. He has done it all for you. Just rest your hope in his finishing works of grace which come to you in the following ways:

1. Eternal Life: We have hope of eternal life with God through Jesus Christ (John 3:16, 1 Corinthians 15:50–57).

2. Salvation: Our hope is rooted in Christ’s sacrifice, which saves us from sin and its consequences (Romans 5:8–11, Ephesians 2:8–9).

3. Forgiveness: We have hope of forgiveness for our sins through Christ’s blood (Matthew 26:28, Ephesians 1:7).

4. Heaven: Our hope is set on heaven, where we’ll dwell with God forever (1 Peter 1:3–5, Revelation 21:1–4

5. Transformation: We hope for transformation into Christ’s likeness, becoming more like Him (Romans 8:29, 2 Corinthians 3:18).

6. Strength in Weakness: Our hope is in Christ’s power, which is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9–10).

7. Comfort in Suffering: We have hope of comfort and peace in the midst of suffering, knowing Christ is with us (2 Corinthians 1:3–7).

8. Victory over Death: Our hope is in Christ’s victory over death, securing our own victory (1 Corinthians 15:55–57).

9. New Creation: We hope for a new creation, where all things will be made new (Revelation 21:5).

10. God’s Presence: Our ultimate hope is to be in God’s presence forever, enjoying unhindered fellowship with Him (Revelation 21:3–4).

11. Faithfulness: We hope in Christ’s faithfulness to us, even when we are faithless (2 Timothy 2:13).

12. Answered Prayer: We hope in Christ’s promise to answer our prayers (John 14:13–14, 1 John 3:22).

TALK AND DEMONSTRATE YOUR WORD

Talk and demonstrate your word

Do you want to hammer the devil on the head? Match on him or even throw him to the abyss? It may sound foolish, but only to the carnal man. 1 Corinthians 2:14. The power is in your hands. You have been giving the authority to do so and gain a total victory over your enemies. Talk and demonstrate your word is an act of putting what you say during your prayer time into action or show; you imagine it, you say it, and you demonstrate it, simple! In other words, it is about commanding the devil and his forces by using an appropriate word and expression to get them submitted to your will. When we are praying, it is better we combine God’s word with ours by quoting scriptures that are related to the issue at hand and act accordingly. For example, Paul says, “And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet short.” Rom. 16:20. We know that Satan has already been bruised under our feet. Now, we have to show this during prayer time by matching our feet on the ground while imagining that we are bruising the devil. This is one of the most effective ways of winning our spiritual battles.

Imagination

It is the ability to see the whole picture of something or somebody in the mind before it comes to reality. It is very relevant in the things of the spirit. We ought to imagine how our enemies should be dealt with, say it out, and demonstrate it accordingly. Imagination is power, and this power has been given to humans by God. Everything we are seeing today did not just come out on their own; either God or man brought them into existence. God imagined them, spoke the word, and they came to be. Man also imagines or sees it in the mind and brings it into reality. Gen. 11:6 & Hebrews 11:3. There is absolutely nothing in this life that was not born out of imagination. It is the bedrock of invention and creativity. First see the picture in your mind and follow it up accordingly, and it will soon become a reality.
Similarly, in spiritual things, when we imagine how our enemies should be dealt with and demonstrate it, it will surely transcend into a spiritual realm and become a reality. Every spiritual element is operating on the principles of imagination, combination of words, and demonstration to bring their will to manifestation in the physical world. So, following these principles will help us a lot to counter the powers of darkness, control our own world, and fulfil our destinies.
Power of the spoken word
There is no doubt that there is power in the spoken word. Remember that God used it in creation Genesis 1. As said, a combination of Gods word with ours will give an outstanding result. Sorcerers, magicians, native doctors, occults, etc. have been using the power of imagination, words, and demonstration to command their forces to work according to their will. For example, in Isaiah 8:9–10, the Bible says something about speaking the word, which reveals how our enemies have been utilising it for destruction. All their manipulations can only be activated by a combination of words and demonstration. But God is with us. He says there shall be no enchantment and divination against us, Number 23:23.

Biblical example

Thereis truly power in talking and demonstrating your word. If you go through the Bible, you will see that many prophets of God only demonstrated their message as they delivered it and eventually came to pass. In other words, they used symbolism to express the main content of their message. Jesus did this during his earthly ministry. He said it and demonstrated it as well. The man was blind from birth. Jesus anointed his eyes with clay and told him to go and wash in the pool of siloam. And the man did so and became healed. John 9:5-7.

Casting and binding
Casting and binding the devil and his forces has been very common among the pentecostal believers, and it is expected to be more common, especially in this end time where the battle is intensifying. However, when casting the devil, we are to send him to his final destination, where he cannot come again. Remember that we have been given authority that whatever we bind on the earth is equally bind in heaven. Matt. 16:19. The word is in our mouth, and we are to speak and show it to confirm our faith. Many people just say an open word to the devil without closing it. For example, a believer will say, Devil, I bind you! I cast you out! Is that all? No! That is not enough! You have to cast him, bind him, and send him to the abyss in the name of Jesus. Read what happened in Gérardennes. Jesus finally sent those demons into the pigs as they requested, and they perished there. Matt. 8:28-34. Many believers often engage themselves in prayer of request and never attempt a war fare prayer, probably because of fear or ignorance. God has already given us everything pertaining to life and godliness, but it is the devil who has not been allowing those things to come to us on time. 2 Peter 1:3. For this reason, there is a need for us to engage ourselves fully in spiritual warfare to break away those strongholds. 2 Corinthians 10:4-5.

Talk and demonstrate your word should not only be done when we are praying. It should be our daily confession and taking of a corresponding action. If you are challenged by any ailment, stand up and demonstrate your healing, restoration, and glory! And this will attract a heavenly response to your situation if you do it faithfully (Genesis 22:15-16).

In conclusion
Just imagine it, say it, and demonstrate your word, and it will surely become a reality for you, Mark 11:23-24. However, everything we do, let it be done in the spirit of gentleness and orderliness, not to the disturbance of others, so that in the end, glory will be to God.
